Unaru Foundation is a community-rooted non-profit dedicated to breaking the interlinked cycles of poverty and deprivation in India by first securing people’s most basic needs. We work alongside individuals, families, and local organisations to ensure access to essentials like food, shelter, and clothing, laying the groundwork for people to pursue stability, growth, and dignity.
Our name “Unaru” reflects our belief that every person carries an inner light to rise up, and that with the right support for their basic needs, they can overcome hardship and lead a more hopeful future.
Our long-term dream is to refine this basic-needs-first model in the communities we currently serve, then expand it to more regions across India and, if possible, share it with partners around the world, so that people everywhere can secure their physiological needs and begin climbing their own path up towards a fuller life.
